Questions & Answers
Ask us anything
The 21 questions families ask us most, answered plainly. If yours is not here, phone the centre — we would far rather talk it through than have you guess.
Visiting & enrolling
Before you come and see us
Are both centres licensed?
Yes. Both our Wainwright and Wetaskiwin centres are licensed childcare programs in Alberta, and both participate in the provincial affordability grant.
Do you have space right now?
We currently have openings across our age groups at both centres. Availability changes week to week, so call us and we will tell you exactly which days and rooms are free.
How do I book a tour?
Pick a time yourself from the booking calendar on either centre's page, send a tour request from the contact page, or simply phone the centre. A tour takes about fifteen minutes and you are welcome to bring your child.
Why is there no registration form on the website?
Because a form on a public website cannot tell you whether we actually have room for your child. We would rather have a two-minute conversation, confirm the age group and days that are open, and then send you the registration link for that space. It saves you filling in a form for a place that is not there, and it means the details we do receive are right the first time.
What should my child bring each day?
A morning and an afternoon snack, indoor shoes, a change of clothes, and seasonal outdoor gear. Lunch is available on site for a separate fee, and all learning materials are included.
Does Out of School Care include school pick-up?
No. Our Out of School Care program does not include pick-up from or drop-off at school, at either location. Getting your child between school and the centre is up to you.
Which centre should I contact?
Wainwright: 780-842-3600 or info@exploringwonders.com. Wetaskiwin: 780-900-7755 or care@exploringwonders.com. If you are not sure which suits you, call either and we will point you the right way.
Fees & funding
What it costs, and what help is available
How much does daycare cost per month?
$326.25 a month per child. That is Alberta's flat parent fee for licensed daycare under the provincial affordability grant, and every one of our daycare families pays the same amount regardless of how many days a week their child attends.
Is lunch included in that?
No. We cook a nutritional lunch on site, but it is charged separately from the monthly fee. Ask the centre for the current rate. Parents send a morning and an afternoon snack.
What does Out of School Care cost?
Out of School Care is funded differently from daycare — Alberta's flat parent fee does not apply to it. Call the centre and we will give you the figure for your child's days. Families earning under $90,000 may also qualify for the provincial childcare subsidy, which covers care outside school hours for children from kindergarten to grade 6.
What is included in the monthly fee?
Your child's program and daily care, and all learning materials, activities and community outings. Lunch is charged separately. Parents send a morning and afternoon snack, indoor shoes, a change of clothes, and seasonal outdoor gear.
Do you take drop-ins?
Sometimes, depending on the day and the room. Rates and availability change, so please phone the centre rather than assuming — we would rather quote you correctly than have you arrive to a space we do not have.
Is there a discount for a second child?
Talk to us — please ask about current sibling and enrolment offers at your location when you first get in touch.

Ages, hours, meals and how our days run
Do you accept drop-ins?
Sometimes, depending on the day and the room. Please phone the centre to check availability and the current rate.
Can you help with the childcare subsidy?
Yes. Information is available at alberta.ca/child-care-subsidy, and we are happy to answer questions throughout the application process.
Do you accept part-time children?
Yes. Part-time is typically 3 days a week (Mon/Wed/Fri) or 2 days a week (Tue/Thu). We match part-time schedules between families to create full-time spaces.
How do I register?
Start by contacting us — phone, WhatsApp, or the form on our contact page. We will confirm we have a space that fits your child's age and the days you need, usually after a tour. Once that is settled we email you the registration link and walk you through it. We deliberately do not put the registration form on this website, because sign-ups for spaces we did not have caused families a lot of wasted effort.
Do you offer Out of School Care?
Yes. We offer Out of School Care for children age 6 to 12 at both our Wainwright and Wetaskiwin locations. OSC does not include school pick-up or drop-off.
What ages do you take?
Children from 6 months to 12 years — daycare for 6 months to 6 years, and Out of School Care for 6 to 12 years.
What are your hours?
Monday to Friday, 6:45am to 5:30pm at both locations.
Do you provide meals?
We cook a nutritional lunch on site, charged separately from the monthly fee. Parents send a morning and an afternoon snack.
