How wonder becomes learning
Our curriculum weaves together Flight — Alberta's Early Learning and Care Framework, the Te Whāriki approach from Aotearoa / New Zealand, and emergent, child-led planning.
Learning with Flight
Flight guides our educators' everyday work — focusing on holistic goals rather than narrow subject outcomes, and reading children's everyday experiences as rich learning.
Child Well-Being
Safe, caring environments where emotional and physical health, positive identities, and a sense of belonging are nurtured and protected.
Communication
Intellectually, socially, and culturally supportive practices, languages, literacies, and literate identities.
Play
Open, flexible environments where playful exploration, problem solving, and creativity are strengthened and purposefully planned.
Diversity
Socially inclusive, culturally sensitive environments where equitable, democratic and sustainable practices are enacted.
The Te Whāriki approach
Built on principles and strands that weave together — with aspirational statements for children — to create goals and outcomes for children and families.
Development
Reflects the holistic learning and development of children.
Motivation
Motivation and support build on each child's positive identity.
Relationships
Children learn through responsive and reciprocal relationships.
Community
The wider worlds of family and community are integral to the approach.
The five strands woven through
Exploration
Play is valued as meaningful learning; the importance of spontaneous play is recognised.
Belonging
Connecting links with family and the wider world are affirmed and extended.
Contribution
Equitable opportunities for learning, irrespective of gender, ability, age, ethnicity or background.
Communication
Children develop communication skills for a range of purposes.
Well-being
An environment where children's emotional and physical health is promoted.

Provocations & exploration
Provocations are interactive displays set up as an invitation for children — created with loose parts: open-ended materials like peg boards, rocks, tongs and sorting containers. With no fixed outcome, they encourage creative exploration, new ways of thinking, and pure imagination.
Mealtimes that connect us
We are pleased to offer a nutritional lunch for the children in our care. Mealtimes matter — we use them to connect, chat about the day, and share stories, with a well-balanced menu and creative ways to optimise nutrition. Parents provide morning and afternoon snacks.
